Make a Difference in the Life of a Child and in Your Community

Would you enjoy connecting with a child and experiencing the health benefits and rewards that come from knowing you are making a difference in your community?

Become a Girls/Boyz First mentor today!

Our community-based mentoring program will match you one-on-one with a child to spend time together on a weekly basis. Play games, explore nature, do crafts, visit museums and more. By developing a relationship based on trust and mutual respect you offer support, model healthy decision-making and teach relationship skills. By taking the time to listen without judgement and encourage them to follow their interests, you can help a young person grow into engaged, happy citizens with a positive outlook on life. As a mentor you will receive on-going training and support. We offer monthly low-cost activity lists and organized group activities for mentor pairs as well.

Everyone wants to feel like they belong. You can help a child find their place in our community and in the world. And have a lot of fun while hanging out with your mentee!

Connect with a child and make a difference by becoming a mentor in your community.

About Girls/Boyz First Mentoring

Location:

73 Main St #29, Montpelier, VT 05602, US

Mission Statement

Strengthening our central Vermont community by connecting youth with adult mentors to support and empower young people for successful futures as productive, responsible, and caring individuals.

Description

Founded in 1998, Girls/Boyz First Mentoring has served over 200 youth between the ages of 8-18 and is the longest running mentoring program in our region. We serve children who reside in Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, Middlesex, Montpelier and Worcester. We are a one-on-one, community-based mentoring program that matches young people with adult mentors to meet weekly in the communities where they live. . We carefully screen, train and support our mentors to support and encourage children to explore their interests, follow their dreams and overcome barriers to accessing educational and aspirational opportunities. While promoting mental health, good decision-making and relationship building, the simple act of caring and believing in a child helps them believe in themselves.
