From May 1-22, Red Cross of Massachusetts volunteers, fire departments and partners will install 400 free smoke alarms in communities around Massachusetts. Working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death from home fires in half.

Every single day, the American Red Cross helps people in emergencies. It is through the time and care of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things. We operate the largest food pantry in New England, we empower volunteers as leaders of the organization, we offer training and support. Whether it is standing with a family on the sidewalk at a house fire to offer comfort and care or it is contacting someone in the armed services who has a new baby, the Red Cross is a gentle presence of compassion and assistance.
