House Manager
Position Description
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: *Part-time
Compensation: Free room and board
Location: On-Site (Akron, Ohio)
Expected Hours: 20 hours per week
Hull House Recovery Residences (HHRR) is seeking a, live-in, House Manager to monitor operations and maintain the safety of the house and it’s residents. In addition, they will serve as a peer recovery supporter, while creating and maintaining our principles of Accountability, Connection, and Love. The House Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and assist with partnership management and the implementation of peer support services. Additional functions include:
Administrative:
- Maintain resident confidentiality
- Complete and maintain required resident records and documentation
- Attend weekly meetings with Program Consultant
- Assist the Executive Director with the administrative functions of HHRR
- Coordinate/collaborate with treatment providers and external services
House Maintenance and Programming:
- Assist HHRR staff in the design of weekly meeting and group activities
- Work directly with HHRR residents, implementing meetings and programs
- Manage and secure resident medication storage
- Facilitate weekly house meetings
Resident Support:
- Complete training as a recovery peer support mentor and/or support group facilitator
- Provide meal support for the bulk of meals
- Complete weekly shopping trips with residents
- Conduct random drug testing
- Implement new resident orientation and discharge
Requirements:
As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in Hull House Recovery Residence’s core values and be driven by the mission. In addition the selected candidate, will be required to:
- Complete Peer Recovery Supporter Training
- Complete of Ohio CDCA license is encouraged
- Live in the house
- Have own recovery from an addiction for 2+ years
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Complete a background check
- Have knowledge of the recovery process
- Facilitate activities that promote recovery
- Adhere to the HHRR Code of Ethics
- Follow all HHRR policies and procedures
- Maintain personal recovery
Key Qualifications:
While there are no minimum educational requirements for this position, the successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of success in program administration, communications, and working with those in recovery. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the following:
- Lived experience with an eating disorder and be free of eating disorder behaviors for 2+ years
- Personal experience living in a recovery/sober living home
- An interest in the fields of mental health, addiction and eating disorders
- Be highly organized with attention to detail
- The ability to work independently
- The ability to think strategically, remain calm in a rapidly changing environment
- Strong analytic, organization and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge and skills to link residents with community resources
- *May be a current student or have employment outside of duties with HHRR
