The Welders Board is looking for new members who are interested in lending their talents to DC based playwrights in their efforts to produce theater in a unique way. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about The Welders’ mission and who has a track record of leadership. The Board supports the work of The Welders and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance.

Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

• Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by the Board and The Welders for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics
• Review agenda and supporting materials prior to Board and committee meetings
• Approving The Welders’ annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
• Assisting the Board President in identifying and recruiting other Board members
• Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
• Representing The Welders to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
• Ensuring The Welders’ commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities The Welders serves

• Extensive professional experience with significant leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
• A commitment to and understanding of The Welders’ community, preferably based on experience
• Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving The Welders organization and connection to the mission
