ORGANIZATION: FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 10 people are interested

Every Wednesday evening at Life Start Village, our parents are taking classes focused on learning self sufficiency. While parents are in class, volunteers provide childcare! Volunteers care for a number of children under the age of 12, playing games, doing crafts and playing outside until their parents are finished with their course for the evening.

Our Crisis Nurseries are looking for Childcare support to work around your schedule! We would love community members to help create healthy adult connections, support our child development programing and provide crisis support to our community

Volunteers must be over the age of 18 with childcare experience and a love for having fun!

Mission Statement

Protecting children, strengthening families, and preventing child abuse.

Description

Family Support Center began in 1977 through a collaboration between the Junior League of Salt Lake City and the Utah Association for Children's Therapy (U-ACT). The founding project was the Crisis Nursery located in Sugar House. It was established in response to a pressing need for short-term crisis and respite care for children at risk for abuse or neglect. Since 1977, the Nursery program has expanded to include 2 additional locations in Midvale and West Valley City.

Over the years, the Family Support Center has carefully changed, added, and expanded programs to meet the dynamic needs of our community.

The Family Support Center now provides the following services: Crisis Nurseries, Adoption Respite, Clinical Therapy, and LifeStart Village.
