United Way of Palm Beach County's Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) Program, in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), is looking for 150 volunteers to help provide free tax services throughout Palm Beach County. A commitment of four hours per week is required during tax season from 16 VITA site locations throughout Palm Beach County offering a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings and weekends, as well as some virtual and socially distanced options!

This is an ideal opportunity for CPA's, retired professionals, college students or any individuals looking to build their accounting and finance skills. Also needed are volunteers who are bilingual in Spanish or creole, Volunteers who are age 16 or older may serve as greeters and earn community service hours.

Individuals will be trained to become a IRS-Certified VITA Volunteer preparers. The training begin December and run through January 30th with online training required. CPAs are not required to undergo the IRS training, but muss pass the IRS certification test.

Background check is requires due to funders, and sensitive information that volunteers handle, bank account numbers, social security numbers, etc.

Volunteering for the VITA Program is an extremely rewarding opportunity! No experience is required and there are opportunities that don’t involve preparing taxes.
