Help thousands of people receive the money they've earned!
United Way of Palm Beach County is looking for volunteers to support the VITA program during the 2018 tax season. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a national program staffed by local volunteers to provide free tax preparation and electronic fillings of tax returns. It's an important service to thousands of individuals and families in this county with low-to-moderate incomes who are eligible for tax credits.
We are currently looking for 200 volunteers to work at VITA Centers, located throughout the county, from Boca Raton to West Palm Beach and west to Belle Glade. VITA volunteers include Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), retirees, housewives, college students and professionals. Volunteers are trained for free by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This year, volunteers may receive classroom training or learn via the internet.
We are also looking for dedicated Greeters at each of the VITA sites. Greeters welcome taxpayers to the center, provide taxpayers with intake forms, review taxpayers' documents to make sure they have all of the required information as well as qualify for the VITA service. Greeters also manage the flow of taxpayers into the center. Greeters must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
