ORGANIZATION: Whiz Kids Tutoring

As a volunteer, you will be part of a Christian tutoring community of several other student/tutor pairs who meet on Zoom at the same time and day as you. You will be placed in a breakout room with your student for approximately 50 minutes of one-on-one tutoring that focuses on reading, math and learning games and will be followed by an optional club time where a short Bible message will be shared as a large group.

Our Summer Program will meet on Zoom once a week for 6 weeks over the summer.

We will have two online sites that meet over the summer on Tuesdays. One from 10:00-11:15 a.m. on Zoom and the other from 6:00-7:15 p.m. on Zoom. Sites will start on Tuesday, June 14 th and go through Tuesday, July 26 th (with the week of the 4 th of July off).

Mission Statement

Whiz Kids mission is to help improve the lives of disadvantaged elementary and middle school kids through academic tutoring, positive mentoring relationships and spiritual nurture. Whiz Kids pairs students in one-to-one relationships with volunteers who tutor and mentor. Whiz Kids provides literacy, math and homework help to low-income students who struggle academically. Our vision is to tutor and mentor in the Spirit of Christ.

Description

Whiz Kids is a nonprofit Christian tutoring organization that works with the Public Schools. We have more than 50 tutoring sites throughout the Denver metro area where tutors can serve. We match one adult with one at-risk student and they tutor together once a week for a hour and then there is a 30 minute Club time where kids here the good news of Jesus' love for them! The commitment is 1.5 hours once a week from October to April.
