Volunteers are how CHAP has been able to deliver over 80,000 FREE healing art experiences over the past 15 years. Whether you can give us 2-4 hours one time as part of a group or a few hours a week for months, you’ll enjoy projects that support our work of bringing the healing power of art to children and their families facing medical challenges.
Tasks might include assembling care packages for children in area hospitals and underserved clinics, sequining a painting, leading a virtual Art Club, labeling envelopes, helping with an event, or other studio related needs as assigned. All of CHAP’s volunteer jobs impact the children and families we serve.
Volunteers age 13+ who are fully vaccinated are currently welcome at the studio. Masks are required.
Studio hours are from 10am-4pm Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 11am-6:30pm on Wednesdays.
Contact Faye at faye@chappdx.org or call 503-243-5294 to start the process.

Mission Statement
Children's Healing Art Project (CHAP) brings the healing power of art to children and families facing medical challenges.
Description
At CHAP, children are known for their creativity and ingenuity-not by their disease, diagnosis or disability. Our innovative and inclusive healing arts programs are provided free of charge to children, teens and families affected by pediatric illness, disability or special need. CHAP provides Oregon’s only in-and-out of hospital interactive healing arts program.
Each week, CHAP's trained teaching artists lead over 40 hours of healing art experiences at area hospitals including Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Knight Cancer Institute and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. CHAP’s proven method of mobile arts service delivery features unlimited art supplies and projects designed to spark the imagination.
CHAP's Art Club Program provides fun and engaging art experiences to children with medical challenges outside the hospital, giving these children ongoing opportunities to explore and create - without labels or limits. Our outreach programs provide tailored art experiences with our partners who include Down Syndrome Network Oregon, Camp Erin, and Candlelighters for Children with Cancer.
CHAP's healing art experiences strengthen the people we work with, ensuring that they have the opportunity to express themselves, thus empowering them to improve the quality of their lives. We couldn't do all that we do without the support of dedicated volunteers!
