Want to change a child's life? Join us to provide tutoring and mentoring to middle school students in East Oakland on Wednesdays from 2 pm - 3:15 pm!
Community Education Partnerships (CEP) believes in providing quality education to students in the Bay Area who are homeless and to those facing housing instability. As a consistent presence in the life of a homeless youth, you can help build up that child’s confidence and instill a joy for reading and math that will help set them up for academic success.
We are seeking volunteers to join our team of in-person tutors at a middle school site in East Oakland. Social distancing, masks, and enhanced hygiene measures are required. All volunteers and students must be fully vaccinated. Tutors are provided with virtual tutoring tools and training to ensure continued service during inclement weather and shifting pandemic risks.
As a volunteer tutor with CEP you will:
- Work with a student for at least one hour per week
- Provide homework support and academic skill building
- Read aloud and be read to in return
- Play literacy and math games
- Have fun!
No teaching experience required and anyone 18 or older can volunteer. Session times are flexible and all of the necessary training is provided.
