Shelters & Owner Surrender Relations Team Lead

Team Description: The Shelters & Owner Surrender Relations Team is responsible for building relationships with area shelters and other organizations in an effort to both save lives and increase the number of adoptable dogs brought into AAUPR. The team will also work with online platforms such as Craigslist, Nextdoor, Shelter pages, etc. to find dogs in need that are a match for our foster base and adoption applicants. All dogs will be sent to the Approvals Team for a decision on intake.

Position Title : Shelter & Surrender Liaisons Team Lead

Position Description : The lead is responsible for training and managing the volunteers who go into shelters to meet dogs. The lead and team volunteers will build relationships so that dogs are generated that are a good fit for AAUPR. The lead and volunteers will also use online platforms. In conjunction with the team admin, the lead will ensure metrics are met that allow AAUPR to be sustainable while increasing the number of dogs saved and adopted. The lead will also work with the Volunteer Team to add more team members as needed for complete coverage.

Qualifications for Position : Must be familiar with AAUPR policy and procedure and have a good understanding of dog behavior and basic medical issues. Management experience preferred with the ability to motivate volunteers while keeping them on track. Experience training people. Must have phone and internet access. Need to be computer-savvy. Must be able to access and use Facebook, Internet for Cloud based database (iShelters), Gmail and Google sheets and documents. Must be organized and dependable. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Must be good at handling emails and, able to work with a sense of urgency and remain calm and cool. Approximately 75% email and 25% phone calls. The team lead doesn't necessarily have to go to all shelters but will manage the volunteers who do. Ideally the lead would go to some shelters as well as contact the shelters to build on and check on relationship status.

Availability needed : More time will be needed up front to help build the team but once things are in place, time needed should decrease and become more oversight.
