Share your love of reading by helping a neighbor learn to read. Change a life. Become a volunteer.
We'll train you for free and then match you with an adult who struggles with reading. One-to-one tutoring for adults, 18 or older, who speak and understand English and read below an 8th grade level. The two of you will meet for an hour and a half, two times a week based on your availability. You set your schedule together. We request a minimum 6 - 9 month commitment from you.
Our time-tested curriculum is easy to use, and we provide plenty of support materials as well as the training.
No experience is necessary.
Tutors and Learners meet twice a week at mutually convenient times any time the Burbank Library Central branch is open, including evenings and Saturdays: we will match you with someone who can come at the same times you can. All in-person tutoring takes place at the Central Library at 110 N. Glenoaks in Burbank; however, we can discuss online tutoring with tutors and learners connecting through our BPL Literacy Zoom account. Meetings are still twice a week and are mutually arranged with your Learner.
Is this for you?
