The Summer Waste Camp is an initiative by HashVibe World aimed at reducing plastic waste pollution and retrieving a 1,000,000 metric tonnes of plastic waste from Ghana’s water bodies. The village is a plastic eco-friendly community built plastic waste.
Plastic waste has come of concern over the last decade and efforts to reduce it usage especially in the African sub region has not seen any significant improvement. Recycling these waste is the best possible option but the challenges of recycling has come with some plastic materials either not been able to be recycled or affording little market value for the recycling companies.
This raises the question of how all plastic waste can be used or recycled into a more sustainable long lasting use. It is on this premise that the Ghana Plastic Village and Eco-Friendly Village was birth.
The village would be Ghana’s first plastic and climate change mitigation hub of research, recreation and recuperation. The idea is to create a resort of relaxation with plastic on a 25 acre land with schools, medical facility, training centre, and organic crop and animal farming.
Volunteers would get to work with local communities on building sustainable community led solutions using plastic waste. The project would involve community sensitization, medical outreach, construction, teaching and advocacy
