Silver Hill Hospital, a leading psychiatric hospital, wants to start offering Volunteer-led SMART Recovery Meetings to complement the 12-step Meetings on our campus (AA, NA, Dual Diagnosis Anonymous) so that our patients may have greater opportunities to strengthen their sobriety.

SMART stands for Self-Management And Recovery Training (see www.smartrecovery.org).

SMART Recovery is centered around its 4-Point Program:

1) Building and maintaining the motivation to change

2) Coping with urges to use

3) Managing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in an effective way without

addictive behaviors

4) Living a balanced, positive, and healthy life.

We are seeking Certified Smart Recovery Volunteers to lead meetings for

our patients.

If you are a person in recovery with at least one year of sobriety, you

may find that SMART Recovery can enhance your own recovery and offer you the

intrinsic rewards associated with "giving back".

You must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, be willing to acquire new

knowledge and skills and also be comfortable as a group leader. If you already

participate in programs of mutual support or self-help groups, then you may

already appreciate the tremendous value of group support and fellowship.
