Help out with Tropical Storm Debby, Beryl and the California Wildfires - Red Cross will train, deploy, transport and board you to assist in the efforts.
Please note: You MUST have an unencumbered medical license: Pass the background check, 14 consecutive days of availability, deployment location is based on volunteer need not on personal preference, you must complete 5-10 hours of online training.
Disaster Health Services volunteers provide medical care and consultations for people staying at a Red Cross shelter who may have endured hardship and injury during an evacuation. The position requires a current, unencumbered medial license. It is a part-time position assigned to work in-person before, during and/or after a disaster event such as a wildfire or earthquake. Vaccinated high recommended; or wear appropriate mask at all times
As a Disaster Heath Services volunteer, you will:
- Provide hands-on care for people staying in a Red Cross shelter, including assistance with activities of daily living, wound care, and assistance with functional needs. and healthcare to shelter residents as needed.
- Help evacuees replace medications, medical equipment and supplies
- Observe and screen for COVID-19 and other illness.
