Forge Volunteers and Teachers Needed!

Hello! My name is Mara and I’m seeking adult Forge volunteers at the Menomonee Falls Public Library! I have 2 goals for these volunteers - teacher and resource.

Teacher - volunteer who is proficient in a craft/hobby and willing to teach a class

For example, on a set day and time, a volunteer will teach a class how to stamp a greeting card, or the basics of drawing, or an advanced class on using oil pastels, or beginner beading/jewelry making. Classes will be a set time and the teacher will focus on a specific medium/technique/whatever. The volunteers can choose what they teach - I do not expect someone to teach something they don’t know!

OR if a volunteer is willing to learn something new; perhaps someone is willing to learn glass etching to lead a class, or someone is willing to learn the basics of weaving.

Resource - volunteer who is proficient in a craft/hobby and is willing to 'staff’ a set block of time each month to offer help to those in need, or head a social for a "bee" (like a quilting bee, knitting bee, scrapbooking bee, beader bee, button bee, you get the idea!)

For example, the first Thursday of the month is quilting bee. Patrons can come and quilt together, quilters who are just beginning can come to ask for help with a specific project, or someone just wants to see what quilting is all about.

Another example, the 3 rd Monday of the month is sewing bee. A volunteer would hang out in the Forge to help anyone with a sewing question.

Volunteers should be proficient in their craft/hobby so they can adeptly answer questions, offer help, or teach a class. I can work with volunteers for stand-alone classes, rotating as a resource volunteer for a reoccurring craft time, and more. Furthermore, volunteers would work with equipment (such as sewing machine or leather stamp) need to have working knowledge of the machines so they can adeptly help.

Please let me know if any volunteers/and or teachers are willing to fulfill either of these roles! But please understand that even if you feel that you're not a crafty person, we could use your help with small chores as well!!

Cheers,

~Mara
