Summer Youth Enrichment Volunteer Program for Students Aged 16 and Up

ORGANIZATION: Norwalk Hospital

  • 5 people are interested

The Department of Volunteer Services at Nuvance Health is proud to offer summer volunteer opportunities to students considering a career in healthcare. The whole idea of the program is to foster opportunities for these students moving forward - to let them know there are jobs they can do that are fulfilling and also give them a chance to make a difference in people’s lives. Our patients, caregivers and staff really get a lot out of it, too. We place the students according to their skill levels and interests, and they are exposed to situations where they are interacting directly with staff who can teach them something valuable they can take with them.

The program runs from July 5, 2022 through August 30th. College students returning from school may begin their work in May/June if accepted into the program. Acceptance to the program is conditional upon clearing all medicals, such as providing documented proof of MMR doses, Varicella, a two-step PPD (provided by employee health), proof of annual flu shot, COVID 19 vaccination card with proof of booster and a clear criminal background check for those volunteers age 18 and up. All volunteers must complete an in-person or virtual interview. Please note that COVID 19 vaccines and boosters are required of all volunteers who are, or have the potential to ever come on any of our campuses.

The minimum age to volunteer is 16. We accept both high school and college students. Participants must attend a mandatory orientation as well as agree to participate in a minimum of 6 of the 8 weeks of the program. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2022.
