Description

YMCA of Greater Houston and AARP Foundation Experience Corps are teaming up to bring an evidence-based program to the community that connects young students in kindergarten through third grade with trained adult volunteers age 50 and older who tutor them in literacy and help build their reading confidence. As an affiliate of the Experience Corps program, YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking volunteers to help tutor and mentor students who are a part of the Greater Houston community and attend its Community Enrichment Centers.

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 50
  • Orientation or Training
  • From early August, volunteers will receive comprehensive training.
  • To qualify, volunteers for the program must be at least 50 years of age, have earned a high school diploma or GED and must pass a criminal background check.
