DOROT welcomes highly motivated and socially conscious rising 10th-12th graders who want to make a difference in the lives of older adults. Over the course of 4 weeks, Volunteers work with peers, develop leadership skills and form meaningful connections through a variety of hands-on intergenerational experiences in the community and at program sites. Students earn over 100 hours of community service and develop hands-on leadership experience.

This unique four-week summer opportunity engages a diverse group of socially-conscious high school students in providing 100+ community service hours working with older people. Volunteers can:

• Make meaningful connections across generations
• Practice creativity through the arts.
• Choose the programs that work for them like intergenerational theater, film making, games, music and more.
• Teach an older person to use a smart phone
• Facilitate intergenerational classes
• Plan intergenerational trips to museums
• Get to know an older person one-on-one

DOROT Summer 2022 Program Sites and Dates:

• Manhattan: July 26 - August 18
• Jewish Internships:
• Manhattan June 27 - July 21
• Riverdale: July 25 - August 18
• Brighton Beach (bilingual Russian/English program): July 26 - August 18

This program is offered free of charge. Early applications are encouraged as the program fills early.
