Mission Statement

Our mission is to screen, educate, and serve youth and adult prediabetes individuals in underserved communities by providing biomarker screenings, health awareness and options for a healthy lifestyle change, with the expressed purpose to prevent Type 2 Diabetes.

Description

Since 2019 we have participated in several health fairs in Mableton, GA and Roswell. GA where we performed Body Composition Analysis for attendees to identify those who were overweight or obese and had a family history of diabetes. Follow up activities included counselling and eating plan recommendations. In 2021 we provided Prediabetes Screening Events in Atlanta, GA and Jasper, GA where we provided biomarker screening for hemoglobin A1c, lipid profile (Including, Total Cholesterol, High Density Lipoprotein, Low Density Lipoprotein, Triglycerides, Non-HDL, and TC/HDL) and Fasting Plasma Glucose. Participants who were determined to have prediabetes were counselled and later invited to take part in the CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program. In 2021, we were awarded Pending Status to present the CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program. Our first cohort of eight (8) participants for the year-long program is ongoing. Dr. Dorce also provided a "Six Segment ZOOM Educational Series on diabetes related topics for the Lions Club International North Dekalb Charter (2021). This year (2022) Dr. Dorce is presenting a "Seven Segment ZOOM Educational Series on diabetes related topics for the Atlanta Caribbean Lions Club International. In addition, several onsite Prediabetes Screening and Counselling Events have taken place in the Canton, GA office/laboratory.
