ORGANIZATION: Covia Communities
This is a beautiful opportunity to connect with an older adult over the telephone once a week. Spend some time getting to know each other, sharing your life stories, experiences, challenges, dreams, and goals. Or, have conversations rich in history, arts, travel, education, philosophy, current events, cooking, sports, you name it! Social Call works to make thoughtful matches between a volunteer and an older adult by considering similarities, differences, dispositions, worldviews, and conversational styles.
Social Call volunteers:
- Are matched with an adult 60+ years of age for weekly phone visits
- Receive training and ongoing support
Time Commitment:
- 30 min/week, 6 month minimum, plus a brief online monthly report.
Qualifications:
- 18+ years of age
- Pass a free background check
- Submit two non-family references
- Participate in volunteer training via Zoom (approximately 90 minutes)
