Social Call matches volunteers with older adult participants, aged 60+, across the nation who have reached out to us for a social connection. We make thoughtful matches based on a variety of things from interests and hobbies, to practical considerations, to what interpersonal attributes both might be seeking in a conversation partner. We also take into consideration a number of more abstract concepts, like the individual’s worldview, disposition, conversational style. Many of the older adults enrolled in our program have a strong desire to be matched with a peer and are in need of a volunteer.
If you are an older adult, and available to connect with a senior once a week for 30 minute phone calls, please consider reaching out to us.
Social Call volunteers:
- Are matched with an adult 60+ years of age for weekly phone or video visits
- Receive training and ongoing support
Time Commitment:
- 30 min/week, 6 month minimum, plus a brief monthly report.
Qualifications:
- 18+ years of age
- Pass a free background check
- Submit two non-family references
- Participate in volunteer training via Zoom (approximately 90 minutes)
