El Nido Family Centers, a dynamic 100-year-old nonprofit agency serving the greater Los Angeles area’s most marginalized people, is seeking committed, dedicated board members who, in addition to board service, have specific expertise in the following areas:

FUND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience:

  • Major donor (first-hand experience and perspective)
  • Estate planning
  • Sales
  • Marketing

PARENTING, INFANT, & CHILD DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience:

  • Early childhood development and/or education experience

AUDIT COMMITTEE:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience:

  • Strong accounting background


GENERAL BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enthusiastically support El Nido’s mission, its programs, and its role in the community, and promote awareness of El Nido and its programs.
  • Attend at least two-thirds of Board meetings annually.
  • Actively participate on at least one Board committee.
  • Provide counsel and guidance on policy matters before the Board.
  • Share any special area of expertise or resources that you possess or to which you have access.
  • Dedicate approximately 50 to 100 hours a year to El Nido-related activities.
  • Make El Nido one of the principal charities to which I donate time and money.
  • Actively participate in fund-raising activities:
  • Contribute to El Nido each year a personally meaningful dollar donation, the amount of which, when added to contributions I obtain from others, shall be not less than $3,500 per year (a portion of which may be in-kind).
  • Identify potential individual, corporate, and foundation contributors and facilitate and support El Nido’s requests for funding.
  • Participate in and support special fund-raising events.
  • Actively support decisions made by the Board of El Nido.

Candidates must reside in Los Angeles County and be able to serve on both the board and at least one committee. The initial term is for one year with each subsequent term being three years. The time commitment is approximately four to six hours per month.
