AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for a volunteer who can make weekly courtesy calls to our patients, either on Wednesdays or Thursdays between the hours of 10:00 am - 7:00 pm.

Circle of Care calls are made to our patients, who reside in their home or private residence, and are instrumental in helping the AccentCare Team provide excellent care to our patients.

These friendly check-in calls are made weekly inquiring through questions if the patient and/or caregiver has any needs for the weekend coming pertaining to medications, supplies, and support needs. These calls help anticipate and resolve patient requests prior to the weekend while assuring that the patient receives immediate attention if he or she is in pain or has other urgent needs.

A friendly voice and listening ear can make a tremendous difference in the lives of those who are providing 24-hour care to a loved one on hospice.

On a typical week, these calls can take between 1- 2 hours to complete.

NOTE: Volunteers must have computer access to document calls.

1 Shift

  • 10:00 AM to 07:00 PM
    Home hospice patient calls are made between the hours of the shift on Wednesdays or Thursdays.

Description

Hospice volunteers both give and receive many benefits from joining our program.

Volunteers set their own levels of commitment and travel based on their available time and the needs of our patients. Volunteers serve our adult patients of all ages who live within the metro Atlanta area.

Volunteer selection begins with an application and interview where potential volunteers may express their personal goals, availability, interests, and talents.

Volunteers are carefully screened through a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and personal references.

Direct Care Volunteers help by providing comfort, support, care, and compassion to our patients and their family members, and are required to participate in initial hospice volunteer training as well as basic orientation.

Indirect Care Volunteers help by providing administrative assistance on special projects that enhance the work of our staff and support patients, families and the efforts of the teams in the field. Indirect Care Volunteers receive basic orientation, training specific to task undertaking, and are encouraged to attend initial hospice volunteer training.

Additional support meetings and educational opportunities are offered throughout the year as well as ongoing personal support and social gatherings.
