We need volunteers to help us raise funds that remove barriers to treatment for blood cancer and sickle cell patients. The Icla da Silva Foundation supports patients whose only cure is a bone marrow transplant. We provide these patients with emotional, logistical, and critical financial assistance.
The money raised through your fundraising will help cover the cost of transportation, housing, meals, and caretaker expenses while patients are receiving treatment. These expenses aren't covered by most insurance.
You will help us remove barriers to treatment through the following tasks:
- Increase awareness of our mission/need by sharing with your network.
- Inspire friends and family to join your fundraising campaign and remove barriers to treatment.
- Connect and engage new supporters to raise funds.
- Research/Increase fundraising potential by looking for new avenues/platforms/groups to fundraise.
- Attend virtual volunteer team meetings with our President and share/learn best practices.

Mission Statement
Removing Barriers The Mission of the Icla da Silva Foundation is to save the lives of patients with diseases whose only cure is a bone marrow or cord blood transplant by providing emotional, logistical, and financial support to remove barriers to treatment. Our Vision is that one day, regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic status, every patient suffering from a disease whose only cure is a matching bone marrow or cord blood transplant will receive their treatment without barriers.
Description
A Critical Goal
Our goal is to provide emotional, logistical, and financial support to more patients in need. Our IclaCares program awards financial grants specific to bone marrow transplant patients, including blood cancers and sickle cell disease. We help to cover the cost of transportation, meals, housing/lodging, and other critical expenses associated with the transplant that most insurance companies do not cover.
We need your help. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our donors and fundraisers. Program continuation is dependent on the availability of funds and the program could be discontinued at any time if funding is limited or no longer available.
Please consider joining our team of volunteers to help grow our program and raise funds so that we can ensure more patients receive their life-saving treatment.
*The Icla da Silva Foundation was established in June of 1992, as a nonprofit organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS Code.
