Event Description:
Pullen Arts Center is a community visual arts education facility that supports artists of all ages and levels of experience with skill-building classes led by professional teaching artists. Join Parks Staff as we create an inviting and functional garden around the Arts Center.
Duties:
Volunteers will help with digging holes and placing in new plants ranging in size and species.
Impact:
Through your volunteer service, you have the opportunity to connect people with vibrant parks and to help us create healthy landscape beds which in turn supports the nature in our parks.
Work Environment:
We will be working outside in the elements and dirt, so dress accordingly. There is the possibility of uneven ground. There is a restroom on site.
Requirements:
Registration by each volunteer is required. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. All volunteers must sign a release form. Volunteers under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian sign their release form.
Other Information:
We will provide tools, gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first aid kit. Volunteers need to wear loose comfortable clothing that can get dirty, and closed-toe shoes. Please bring your own filled water bottle.
COVID-19 Policy:
Volunteers must follow the COVID-19 policies below so that projects are safe for everyone.
- Outdoor Volunteers
- We are no longer requiring mask be worn by volunteers working outside, but they are welcome
- Indoor Volunteers
- Our volunteers working indoors are viewed by the City of Raleigh as an extension of our workforce, and as such, are required to continue wearing masks indoors, per the current requirement for all City of Raleigh Employees
- Indoor volunteers are also required to show proof of full vaccination, per the current requirement for all City of Raleigh Employees
- All Volunteers
- Must maintain a safe social distance of 6 ft.
- Please do not register to volunteer if you are showing COVID-19 Symptoms or have recently been exposed
Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email rachel.vannoordt@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
