Cycle Oregon

There’s a group of people who are every bit as important to Cycle Oregon as the riders. They also have just as much fun (and probably sweat a lot less). They are the event volunteers.

We are currently accepting volunteer applications for all four of our 2022 events. Volunteer positions range from supporting riders on course at Rest Stops and in SAG vehicles to assisting at our overnight sites at the Gift Shop, site set up, and everything in between.

The most important trait we look for in a volunteer is a good attitude-it is key to the event’s success. Volunteers work an average of 8 hours a day, and some work as many as 12 hours. All positions require working as a team, so good communication skills are a must. Most volunteers will spend the better part of the day on their feet, and some positions require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds repeatedly. Bonus points for volunteers that can drive box trucks and pull trailers. Due to the nature of the events, we ask all volunteers commit to the full duration of the event.

2022 Event Dates:

GRAVEL // May 20-22 // Toledo, OR
Joyride // June 25 // Independence
WEEKENDER // July 22-24 // Corvallis (Oregon State University)
Classic // September 10-17 // John Day - Monument - Fossil - Mitchell - Dayville

Mission Statement

Cycle Oregon is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming individuals and communities through bicycling. Proceeds from the rides go to the Cycle Oregon Fund, which helps preserve and protect the special places of Oregon and supports community development projects in the regions through which we ride.

Description

Cycle Oregon doesn’t just expose riders to richly diverse Oregon communities. It also provides much-needed financial support to those communities. Proceeds from the rides have been placed in the Cycle Oregon Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation since January 1996, when Cycle Oregon created its fund at the Oregon Community Foundation. To date, Cycle Oregon has awarded 325 grants totaling $2.3 MM through our community and signature grants.

Cycle Oregon also provides approximately $150,000 each year to community groups for the services they provide on our events. They assist greatly in planning our events and provide hundreds of volunteers whose passion and dedication make our rides a success.
