Recruiting Organization: Homestead Hospice of Newnan
Homestead Hospice needs people like you to donate time, energy and experience in a variety of areas, including community outreach, social events within the community and direct patient contact. Together, we will be able to assist patients and families living with terminal illness. Homestead volunteers often express their feelings of joy and inspiration as they make a difference in the lives of the patients and families they help.
Bereavement (clerical)Clerical support for our Bereavement Coordinator.
Bereavement (social)These volunteers visit with a spouse after the death of a loved one and are there just to listen. They also assist in any way with our memorial services and make care calls to check in with families.
Volunteers for Emotional SupportVolunteers may read to/with the patient. They may play a game, watch movies/TV, or sit and visit. Sometimes a simple conversation is all the emotional support a patient or family member needs or wants.
ClericalVolunteers that support our office staff in all departments.
Volunteer Care CallsHospice patients living alone need that extra support as they may not see family or other people for several days. Our care calls are done by volunteers that do not wish to physically visit the patient but want to help in some way. Care call volunteers are assigned a patient and they will call them three times a week until they come off service.
Memorial Service VolunteerVolunteers assist during a memorial service by passing out flowers, seating families, helping with refreshments, etc. (works with a Homestead Chaplain)
Community PartnershipsThis program allows companies to give back to their community. Volunteer Coordinator/Director of Volunteers is happy to present the Homestead volunteer program to the Community Affairs department and they would adopt Homestead as their charity for either six months or one year. We would provide volunteer training for those that want to be a part of this program.
Junior VolunteerThere are many younger children who don’t have the pleasure and knowledge that comes from grandparents. It is a special bond that is formed when a senior has the ability to encourage a young person to live their best life and shares stories about their own lives. Our junior volunteer program provides the opportunity for a child (ages 10-12) and their parent (or guardian) to listen, read and enjoy the companionship with our hospice patients. Junior Volunteers are young comforting souls and soak up the memories and stories from someone who has lived a full and rich life.
Teen VolunteerAs one of our enrichment programs with the Homestead teen volunteers, a patient in hospice can play a game of cards or watch a movie or share a life story.
