Recruiting Organization: First Call Hospice and Palliative Care
Hospice volunteers are valuable members of the hospice team. If you are a caring, outgoing and compassionate person you will gain a sense of satisfaction from making a difference in people’s lives. You will also gain valuable insights from relationships with patients and their families while working with the hospice team. Supporting someone through the dying process can heighten your own sense of spiritual values and help you focus on those things that matter most in life. There are many different opportunities for the volunteer to support the patient, the family, the team and the program. We provide a board range of areas in which you can bring your talents to bear and gain the satisfaction of serving others. Volunteer activities may include some of the following:
- Provide relief or respite to family caregivers
- Pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy
- Read to the patient
- Play cards with the patient
- Write letters
- Provide companionship
- Prepare light meals
- Run errands
