ORGANIZATION: SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors

SpiritCare Logo

SpiritCare is looking for board members who have worked in the long term care industry and can give insights to the special needs of care communities at our board meetings. You might be an owner, administrator or executive director of a care community or care community management company.

The ideal candidate will be able to help support care communities.

All SpiritCare board members are expected to donate to the organization by giving money themselves or asking others to give us funds. These funds pay the salaries of our pastors and executive director. The suggested amount to raise is $5000 a year. This is equivalent to raising $100 each week - that's successfully finding one person each week who can give $10 a month.

You are encouraged to help promote SpiritCare among stakeholders in the long term care industry.

About SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors

Location:

1443 HOWARD AVE, BURLINGAME, CA 94010, US

Mission Statement

The purpose of SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors is to serve the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly living in long-term care centers by: sharing the comfort and encouragement of the gospel of Jesus Christ providing chaplaincy services for hospital residents and staff organizing and supervising worship and visitation teams from various churches and community groups educating the public about issues of aging and spirituality through publications, seminars, and special events

Description

For over 30 years we have provided worship services in care communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. We need volunteers who can help with the services by accompanying hymn-singing on a piano, singing, reading scripture and helping hand-out music. We also need volunteers to help with our administration, helping in outreach to volunteers and volunteer management. We serve over 60 care communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and are looking for volunteer pastors who can take a home and provide a communion service once a month there. We served about 1400 residents a month in care communities. We need people who can visit regularly to chat with older adults one-on-one - maybe read a story, share a game, pray with people or share pictures. We also need board members who have a passion for helping older adults and agree with our mission to help raise funds. This is a ministry that families with children can participate in. Children can communicate with elders by sharing their stories, pictures and toys. The ministry also helps children develop public speaking and musical talent by encouraging them to help in the worship services - for example a group of children may sing a song or play music with a guitar. We also have talented musical children who can give recitals of acoustic instruments.
