Human Resource Business Partner Volunteer for Nature Counter by CrowdDoing
CrowdDoing’s mission is to orchestrate interdisciplinary collaborations by functioning as a "venture lab." The proto-ventures in CrowdDoing’s venture lab each adopt a social innovation strategy to build a new way for diverse stakeholders to address collective challenges in public health, sustainability, and economic resilience . These proto-ventures are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and targeted towards interdisciplinary gaps and opportunities that merit systemic solutions.
Each of the proto-ventures or programs are developed through collaboration among virtual volunteers as well as service learners, subject matter experts, and interdisciplinary experts on systems change. We aim to let each volunteer co-design and shape his or her role in a particular project in ways best suited their abilities and interests, matching them with collaborators who can help them achieve shared goals.
CrowdDoing recruits volunteers and subject matter experts through a mix of (a) channel-based sourcing (b) outreach over LinkedIn, (c) emails to the authors of papers cited in research conducted by our teams, and (d) partnering with more than 50 university courses and university pro-bono clubs (at universities including Oxford, Yale, Columbia, UCSD, University of Waterloo, and others).CrowdDoing is a joint initiative of Match4Action Foundation and Reframe It. It is devoted
to dealing with multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals and beyond through micro-
leadership, massively multi-disciplinary collaboration, and service-learning. We aim to
address the social, economic, and environmental challenges our world faces by
collaborating with professionals and volunteers from many different industries.
CrowdDoing aims to have an impact both on our volunteers and on the world.
CrowdDoing wants to help create a future in which resilience prevents avoidable
catastrophes such as devastating wildfires. We want a society in which people in cities
get enough time in nature to help them achieve mental wellbeing, physical health,
optimal productivity, and social capital goals. We want a world in which natural
remedies for stress and anxiety can be leveraged in evidence-based ways to help
people achieve a broad range of mental health, focus and individual learning goals.
We aim to do this by helping our volunteers develop capabilities for life-long,
collaborative, self-directed learning; for service learning; and for micro-leadership. We
accomplish this by building coalitions for specific initiatives with other service learning
institutions, with other subject matter experts, and with fellow systems change leaders.
CrowdDoing impact venture lab leverages R&D in collaboration with volunteers.
Our aim is to steward and develop each premise about how we can achieve systems
change. We are addressing a wide range of social and economic problems to support
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. CrowdDoing impact ventures
leverages R&D in collaboration with Volunteers to build new social innovations in a half
dozen overlapping areas:
· Anti-Poverty/Upward Mobility
· Public Health/physical health and mental wellbeing
· Prevention of Wildfires and other Catastrophes
- Sustainability /Bio-diversity/Regeneration
- Service Learning/Experiential Learning/Citizen Science/Quantified Self
- Systems Change
We define each premise based on the combination of under-utilized capacities we can
apply to addressing specific societal challenges. We build new social innovations in a
half dozen overlapping focus areas. CrowdDoing as a venture lab shares the principle
of stewarding a series of specific premse for systemic change with other impact venture
As a Human Resource Business Partner Volunteer at
CrowdDoing.World, there are a number of key responsibilities:
- Prepare or maintain volunteer records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
- Review volunteer applications and volunteer requests to match applicants with volunteer requirements.
- Inform volunteer applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, the fact that roles for volunteers are not financially compensated, intrinsic benefits (see below), schedules, working conditions, or promotion opportunities.
- Select qualified volunteer applicants or refer them to managers, making hiring recommendations when appropriate.
- Schedule or conduct new volunteer orientations.
- Maintain and update human resources documents, such as organizational charts, volunteer handbooks or directories, or learning and development support forms.
- Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
- Contact volunteer applicants to inform them of the status of their applications.
- Conduct exit interviews and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
- Interview volunteer applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education, or volunteer skills.
- Perform searches for qualified volunteer candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, volunteer fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals.
- Provide management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
- Analyze volunteer-related data and prepare required reports.
- Advise management on organizing, preparing, or implementing recruiting or retention programs.
- Develop or implement recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated staffing needs.
- Conduct reference or background checks on volunteer applicants for leadership roles.
- Review and evaluate applicant qualifications or eligibility for specified licensing, according to established guidelines and designated licensing codes.
- Evaluate recruitment or selection criteria to ensure conformance to professional, statistical, or testing standards, recommending revisions, as needed.
- Evaluate selection or testing techniques by conducting research or follow-up activities and conferring with management or supervisory personnel.
- Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
- Administrative - Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
- Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Service learning focused on social innovation can be efficient simultaneously at achieving impact, and at teaching skills needed in the future. Service learning and skilled volunteering have demonstrably been efficient and effective approaches to helping individuals acquire skills for a VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world in a diversity of fields-from human resources to engineering to project management to data science.
CrowdDoing aims to scale participation through skilled volunteering and service learning opportunities to help enterprises and institutions foster social innovation.
