Do you want to get more involved in your community?
Do you enjoy helping people resolve their disputes?

As a volunteer mediator, you will help tenants, landlords and neighbors work together to find solutions to their conflicts. Applicants must live or work in Palo Alto or Stanford, and a two-year commitment is required. New volunteers will complete a 40-hour mediation training, so no legal experience is needed.

Description

Project Sentinel is a non-profit organization. Our primary function is to assist individuals with housing problems such as discrimination, mortgage foreclosure & delinquency, rental issues including repairs, deposits, privacy, dispute resolution, home buyer education, post purchase education and reverse mortgages.

Project Sentinel processes more than 10,000 initial contacts annually. We handle over 600 housing discrimination complaints, open over 1700 landlord tenant and community dispute resolution cases, administer mediation programs in most cities in Santa Clara County, counsel more than 750 homeowners each year and provide monthly workshops on a variety of topics including Homeownership, Tenant/Landlord and Fair Housing.
