Are you passionate about family history, and want to help others learn about ways they can honor their Illinois ancestors? Do you have experience marketing for societies and other non-profits? The Illinois State Genealogical Society is looking for a Marketing & Publicity Chair! Duties include promoting ISGS, its officers and members, Associate Members, and their activities. The Marketing Chair promotes and increases ISGS membership through social media, virtual and in-person events, coordinating volunteers to run the ISGS booth when needed. Marketing works with the ISGS Conference Chair to promote conference events and boost attendance. Marketing also creates publicity material such as brochures and flyers to promote ISGS projects and services. The Marketing Chair also files activity reports, attends ISGS Governing Board meetings, and other meetings when requested. This position can be managed remotely, however a volunteer living in the Illinois metro area is preferred for availability to attend in-person marketing opportunities (genealogy-related events and conferences,etc.). To encourage and support local and regional genealogical societies.
Description
The Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS) was formed in 1968 through the cooperative effort and forward thinking of Illinois genealogical society representatives, who envisioned a statewide genealogical organization. ISGS is a not-for-profit, nonsectarian, educational organization, with members from Illinois and worldwide. ISGS supports local Associate Member societies throughout the state, and has a unique partnership with the Illinois State Archives. ISGS promotes genealogical education and our motto is, "Honoring Illinois Ancestors."
