We are looking for compassionate and energetic volunteers to assist with individual and group activities at Asbury Park. This opportunity is perfect for individuals interested in adult and senior care and provides a chance to connect with our community in an incredibly meaningful way. Asbury Park houses residents who require post-acute care short-term or long-term and offers a wide range of activities at different levels of involvement.

In a typical shift, you will:

  • Assist residents to the activity location within the facility, and assist them throughout the activity.
  • Engage residents with programs offered.
  • Set up class materials, pass out materials to residents, and assist in clean up.
  • Participate in one-on-one and group games and activities with residents.

Skills that will help you be successful in this position:

  • Ability to be objective and empathetic, and conduct yourself in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of the residents.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Asbury Park Nursing & Rehab is located at 2257 Fair Oaks Blvd. Sacramento CA, 95825

Schedule & Length of Commitment:

Shifts are available 7 days per week in the mornings or afternoons, also including some evenings for volunteers who work or attend school full-time! We ask our volunteers to commit to a regular schedule for at least 3 months.

Requirements to Volunteer at Asbury Park

  • All volunteers are required to complete an initial phone screening with our Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Volunteers in this position are required to complete a background check.
    • No volunteer is denied solely on the grounds of a criminal conviction; but the date, nature, and relevance of the offense to the positions assigned may be considered.
  • Volunteers are required to watch two (2) training videos; about Elder Abuse Prevention and Mandated Reporting, and HIPAA Confidentiality. Total duration = approximately 45 minutes.
  • All volunteers are required to read and sign all waivers in our Volunteer Application Packet.

3 Shifts

  • morning / 08:30 AM to 11:00 AM
    Volunteer hours are minimum of 1hr/day. Can commit for 3 months.
  • afternoon / 01:00 PM to 04:45 PM
    Volunteer hours are minimum of 1hr/day. Can commit for 3 months.
  • evening / 05:00 PM to 07:30 PM
    Volunteer hours are minimum of 1hr/day. Can commit for 3 months.
