Call for Garden Volunteers

The Uhuru N2U Volunteer Brigade committee is looking for volunteers to help recruit other volunteers into the work of the Black Power Blueprint programs in North St. Louis.

Uhuru is a swahili word that means freedom! And the Uhuru N2U Volunteer Brigade committee is responsible for coordinating the recruiting, training and appreciating of all the volunteers that participate in the work of the nonprofit African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) here in St. Louis. The Black Power Blueprint programs are transforming North St. Louis through renovation, economic development and political power by and for the black community.

The Black Power Blueprint programs in St. Louis include the Gary Brooks Community Garden, the One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market, the African Doula Project, the African Independence Workforce Program, the Uhuru Community Basketball Court and much more. All of these programs are designed to address disparities faced by the African community in health, education and economic development.

We need your help!

Can you help us by:
- staffing outreach tables to sign up volunteers
- distributing flyers at events
- putting up posters in the community

We know that when others, like you, find out about these programs, they will want to volunteer. Help us spread the word! Be part of the Uhuru N2U Volunteer Brigade committee!

There is a market starting in April, and volunteers are needed to set up and break down, help with the stage management, clean up, assist with vendors, assist with children circles, assist at the garden and more. We need your help to get these volunteers!

Have fun, meet new people, learn new skills, and contribute to real positive change in your community. Sign up today!
