ver 180,000 North Carolina residents are currently living with Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to increase 22% by 2025. The Alzheimer's Association aims to drive risk reduction and offering free education to our local communities is one way.

This Community Educator will present Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body, an education program that gives science-based recommendations about taking care of our brains and bodies in seven main areas -sleep, smoking, nutrition, exercise, smoking, cognitive and social engagement - those modifiable risk factors. The program, script and resources are provided.

Potential volunteers could have a background in nutrition, fitness, gerontology, or just a passion for healthy living/aging well. This is a great program that can be done in collaboration with many organizations and services, like paired with a cooking demo, gardening or canning class, wellness retreat, etc.

Presenters are expected to:
 Lead a program at least quarterly through staff collaboration and/or by scheduling your own presentations (faith community, nonprofit organizations, social services, etc.)
 Refer attendees to the resources and programs of the Alzheimer’s Association as appropriate
 Arrive on time, have reliable transportation, be comfortable with public speaking and technology
 Successfully complete online training as well as individual preparation for each program
