Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer Tech Support Tutor at the Hayward Public Library!
Our Goal:
To provide basic computer and digital literacy assistance for community members to best utilize technology independently.
Hayward Public Library's Tech Support Tutoring Program is designed for adult members of the public who are in need of technical support using their wi-fi hotspots, tablets, and Chromebooks, and other general, basic tech support. Some examples could include setting up a Gmail account, downloading an app, or creating an email address.
Tech Support Volunteers will work both with patrons checking out devices from the library, along with patrons who are in need of general tech support. Tutors will be provided training by Hayward Public Library staff and provided resources to reference.
Tech Support Volunteer Tutors will host a weekly 2-hour session, in-person, meeting with community members on a drop-in or schedule basis. Weekly sessions will take place at the Downtown Hayward Library. The program is active now, and looking for volunteers to start as soon as possible!

This position requires a person with the following knowledge and skills:
Familiarity working with technology (e.g. Chromebooks, laptops, Google Drive, smartphones, Wi-Fi hotspots, etc.)

Sufficient grasp of basic computer & digital literacy concepts
Self-motivation/direction
Sensitivity to diverse cultures and populations
