Do you enjoy being around kids and want to help shape the next generation in a structured way? Teach kids life skills, model good communication skills, build character?

Objective: To supervise and facilitate activities with the children in the Troops Program (Pre-K to 12 th Grade)

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with serving the children dinner and monitoring their behavior and interaction during dinner
  2. Assist the teacher in keeping kids engaged in the lesson
  3. Assist with teaching the curriculum, if desired- goals are to build character and to develop good communication, social, decision-making, life, and leadership skills in an environment that is age-appropriate and Christ-centered
  4. Assist with the set up and clean up of program areas

Qualifications:

  1. At least 13 years old
  2. Experience working with children desirable but not essential
  3. Dependable, responsible, and mature
  4. Friendly and fun-loving
  5. Good role model

Intake and Training:

  1. Complete a Statement of Volunteers form
  2. Complete The Salvation Army’s clearance process, which includes a Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse History Clearance, and child abuse training
  3. On-the-job training will be provided on the first day of volunteering

Time Commitment: Every Wednesday from 4:45 to 6:45 PM during the school year, as available
