Who: Anyone who uses STEM/Math in their career regularly. Example career titles we are interested in include but are not limited to, software engineer, mechanical engineer, architect, culinary chef or baker, doctor, or construction worker. Diversity of experience is appreciated.
What: Looking for volunteers who are interested in inspiring students by sharing your educational journey and how STEM/ Math is important in your career. Lead a 45-minute presentation for students grades 3-10. You will be provided with training and a slideshow template to help you prepare. This volunteer opportunity season will run for 9 weeks and we are looking for 2 volunteers at each session. You can sign up for as few or as many opportunities as you would like. Please note that in addition to your STEM Volunteer Presentation, we ask that you attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation. Our two available orientation dates are on Tuesday, May 31st, 8:45-9:15 AM, and Thursday, June 2nd, 5-5:30 PM.
Where: Virtually via Zoom. We are most interested in volunteers who live in or have current/previous ties to the Bay Area. This could mean you hold a job or have held a job with a Bay Area company, you went to school in the Bay Area, or you grew up in the Bay Area.
When: June 16 through July 26 for 45 minutes between 10:00 am-12:00 pm, Monday-Friday. The specific date and time of your workshop will be determined by your class placement.
