ORGANIZATION: Adams County Foster Care

We are always in need of people who can provide a stable and caring home to children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Foster care provides children with a temporary time to heal until they can return home, be adopted, or live independently. There are more than half a million children in the foster care system in the United States. Here in Adams County, at any given time, we have approximately 1000 children residing in out of home care. About half of those children reside with relatives; however, the rest of those children are placed foster homes. At this time, due to the shortage of foster homes across the nation, but more specifically Adams County, we need people like you to step up, and help care for these children and teens.

Foster families play an essential role in helping parents stay emotionally connected to their child while they are in foster care and in supporting family reunification. Foster families provide a temporary family life for children who are unable to live with their own families. Foster parents will receive:

  • A monthly reimbursement for food, shelter, clothing, and recreation for each child
  • Medical and dental coverage for each foster child through the Medicaid program
  • Free training
  • Free home study
  • Free On-going training to enhance their knowledge and skills so they can provide the best possible care to meets the unique needs of foster children
  • Support and supervision from agency workers
  • The satisfaction of knowing they made a lifelong impact to the children and families of Adams County
