EDUCATION VOLUNTEERS AT ZOO ATLANTA
Our Education Volunteer Program is focused on service opportunities that involve interacting with guests. It is designed for those interested in a longer-term commitment. Education Volunteers work directly with the Education Department at Zoo Atlanta, supporting programs such as our giraffe feeding experience or conservation-focused events. Advanced training is available for those interested in offering Habitat Interpretation around the Zoo. Education Volunteers may also assist with our many events throughout the year. Education Volunteers will not have direct contact or interaction with Zoo animals. We seek applicants with a desire to teach others about conservation and Zoo Atlanta’s mission. Training is provided, and Volunteers can progress through the program at their own pace
Volunteers must:
- Be at least 18 years of age and no longer a high school student.
- Pass a background check.
- Commit to six months of Volunteer service to include at least four service hours per month.
- Pay a $30 orientation fee to defray the cost of a name badge, uniform shirt, and background check.
- Opportunity to advance Zoo Atlanta’s mission and contribute to conservation
- Continuing education opportunities
- Opportunity to meet and build relationships with fellow Volunteers and staff
- Discount on Zoo Atlanta Membership
- Discount at Zoo Atlanta gift shops
- Discount at permanent food outlets during Volunteer shifts
- Complete an online application, linked above. Online applications are screened for completeness and apparent support of Zoo Atlanta’s mission.
- Accepted applicants must complete an online orientation, followed by an in-person training. Training dates and times will be provided upon final acceptance into the program and are offered approximately every two months.
Please contact the Volunteer Supervisor at volunteer@zooatlanta.org if you have further questions about everything our Volunteer Programs have to offer.
Please note:
- We do not offer one-time community court-appointed opportunities.
- We are not able to offer job shadowing opportunities.
