STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, after school literacy tutoring program for AACPS second graders reading below grade level. The STAIR Site Coordinator is instrumental to the success of our organization. We are in need of Site Coordinators and tutors for the STAIR year beginning in October, 2022 at our Severn Elementary site as well as a new site we will be opening at Van Bokkelen Elementary. We have 12 sites conveniently located at Community Centers and Elementary Schools across Annapolis and throughout Anne Arundel County. No experience necessary and we offer training! Site Coordinators have the opportunity to work with each of the 8-12 students at their site. This is a great volunteer opportunity for retired teachers and reading specialists, as well as recently retired professionals. Site Coordinators work in Co-Coordinator teams to ensure each STAIR site is a safe, welcoming, organized place for fun and learning. Site Coordinators are the leaders at their site and are provided training and all the necessary materials and support to lead a successful site. Site Coordinators communicate electronically with the staff and the volunteers at their site to ensure consistent delivery of the STAIR program. Site Coordinators and Co-Coordinators also assist with tutoring students as substitutes or as one-day a week tutors, when the need arises, and are able to track and monitor the progress of all students at their site. To learn more, attend our information session on June 22nd at the Annapolis Library on West Street.
