ORGANIZATION: UNBROKEN DREAMS INC

  • 8 people are interested

Unbroken Dreams is an organization that helps people who are experiencing homelessness and people who have been previously incarcerated. We are beginning a program where a small group of participants (4-5 per class) are taught skills that help them become self-sufficient. We are looking for people who feel comfortable teach the following skills: computer skills (excel, word, internet, email), career coaching (resume creation, job interview skills), interpersonal skills (reconnecting with families, support groups, conflict resolution, effective communication, anger skills, life skills), and financial skills (opening a bank account, online banking, money management, savings, retirement). You do NOT have to be a professional in these fields. If you feel that you could help someone with the basics, we need you! Our classes will begin in April and continue throughout the year. There will not be a set schedule as classes will be held at different locations throughout the county and at various times. We will let you know when and where the classes are being taught and you can determine your eligibility based on your schedule.

Mission Statement

To offer people who have been disadvantaged by incarceration, homelessness, and other life challenges the opportunity to fulfill their potential and move towards an independent lifestyle and positive future.

Description

Unbroken Dreams was established as a non-profit 501c3 organization to help less fortunate people develop self-esteem and rebuild their lives by restoring the participant as a responsible member of the community. We provide the necessary housing location assistance, education, employment opportunities, and life skills training for people experiencing homelessness and people previously incarcerated as they move from dependent to self-sufficient lifestyles.

We believe that people have a difficult time integrating into society after incarceration or trauma if they do not have the fundamentals of life: a home, a job, and a feeling of community. They are in desperate need of housing as well as life skills to empower them to self-sufficiency. They will also benefit from numerous complementary supportive services, including life coaching, financial coaching, and soft skills instruction. Our goal is to empower our users to self-sufficiency by providing a program that will provide the necessary tools to assist them in their journey.
