Strengthening Lead Child Care Worker for Strengthening Families Program Purpose: Ensure that children not engaged in skills groups are cared for and have fun during the SFP skill group time and that appropriate numbers of safe adults are engaged in providing care. Time Commitment

14 week commitment with up to 3 hours weekly during SFP program.

Responsibilities include
  • Pre Launch
    • Planning meetings
    • Site visit to ensure you are familiar with the facility
    • Establish ratios for children in the child care
    • Secure referral numbers and ensure adequate ratios are recruited for
  • During Sessions
    • Arrive half hour early to set up classroom
    • Ongoing communication with site coordinator and other facilitators
    • Ensure age appropriate activities are available for children
    • Ensure adequate ratios of adults to children
    • Ensure proper check-in and check-out of children
    • Clean up area and make sure it is as clean as when you arrived
    • Communicate needs to site coordinator
  • Graduation
    • Participate with families in fun activities
    • Celebrate completion and participate in graduation ceremony

Volunteering with Adults

  • Mentors for the Mentoring 2 Excel Program
  • Structured programming that aids in behavior change
  • Skill Building

Requirements to Volunteer

  • Submit a Volunteer Interest Form
  • Attend Launch Training & Mentor Training (if applicable)
  • Pass a background check

Volunteers receive training in the areas of safety and security and our staff are committed to the safety of everyone in the facility, including volunteers. Our training covers all rules, regulations, and guideline that volunteers must know in order to be prepared to work with our clients and enter the facility. Even those with previous experience in other facilities will need to attend Launch. There is no time requirement to volunteer. We appreciate any time you are willing to give in order to help our clients.
