ORGANIZATION: POHL CHILDRENS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 1 person is interested

One of our greatest contributors this past year has been the VFW, helping to raise money and connect us with families who need our services.

Volunteers are needed to help out on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Mondays every month. Responsibilities are selling tickets, checking BINGO cards for correct BINGO, as well visiting with VFW patrons, providing any requested information about our foundation (materials provided), and just fellowship with the community.

No special skills or knowledge needed, we will provide information and direction if needed, we simply would like your time and willingness to learn about our cause and give back to our community.

Mission Statement

In loving memory of Kegan, Bracken, and Mearan, the Pohl Children's Foundation desires to provide scholarships to organizations that provided help and services to the Pohl children during their lifetimes AND also to children with similar interests, circumstances, disabilities, and abilities.

Description

The Pohl Children's Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit memorial foundation for Mearan Ruby-Rea Pohl, Bracken Kyle Pohl, and Kegan Michael Pohl. All three children passed away from Spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 (SCA7), a rare genetic disease. Their father, Kyle Pohl, also has SCA7 and is considered terminal. Our foundation currently provides a 12-week family therapy session, provides families the opportunity to attend Mounted Eagles therapeutic equine therapy at no cost, offers a special Christmas event for grieving families each year, sends out a series of six healing kits to children who have endured the loss of a family member, sunshine kits to children with life-threatening disease, gift cards to families to support travel between treatments and doctor visit, and we are currently building pediatric hospice and palliative care services within a four-county area in central Minnesota.
