Over the next three months, we have the task of creating a dance concert, for three different groups of students, located in different schools. The students range in ages from three to eighteen, each meeting on different days, and some having danced before, while others are novices not only to dance but to performing.

This production entitled "Keep on Dancing" will take place in an approved theater house in or around Brooklyn, NY. We are working on solidifying that location now with tentative dates as June 11 th, 12th, or 18 th. The date will be dependent on theater availability.

This volunteer opportunity asks for people who are passionate about administration, children, dance, community, and joy, to join our team and assist in giving these students a chance and a space to gather, doing something they love.

The number of students for the cast will mostly reach anywhere between forty to fifty and will require great attention to detail for what will be needed for their success to be realized.

These tasks require assistance with the management of the *COAR program goals, being but not limited to sending emails, taking attendance, creating social media alerts, preparing and selling tickets, ordering costumes, coordinating travel, communicating with families, schools, staff, instructors and students. All of that and more before the show date.

If you are excited to hear more, then please contact us, as we are available to share. We invite you to join our mission, inspire a young artist, and bring joy to a community.

Due to the pandemic, we had to let staff go. We are overwhelmed with activities to maintain and grow the program, so we can once again hire people. As we needed to pivot, it is still important to create a platform that not only continues returning students on the pathway to artistry but invites new students to discover their own potential as future artists.

Description

Purelements: an Evolution in Dance ("PE") is a 501(c) (3) performing arts organization founded in 2006, by Kevin A. Joseph and Lakai Worrell. Through our programs, we use the arts as a vehicle to support personal development, expose children in underserved communities to careers in the performing arts, support the aspiring artists is serve with developing and refining their talents, and educate its program participants and audiences on social issues affecting their communities. We are in need of assistance in the areas of Administrative assistance, production help, marketing as well specifically for our COAR program.

Purelements’ Center of Artistic Refinement (COAR) is a rigorous youth and pre-professional training program designed to expose and encourage young people to explore careers in performing arts through technical training, performance opportunities, and mentorship. Participants study various disciplines including Classical Ballet, Modern, Traditional West African, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Jazz, and Choreography. COAR is an ongoing program normally running for 35 weeks each year from September to June. Every Saturday the program provides dance instruction for up to 150 students aged 3-21. Numbers have been decimated for 2022 and we are working to rebuild the program beyond its pandemic numbers.
