ORGANIZATION: Friendship Circle

ABOUT FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE:
Friendship Circle provides assistance and support to 3,000 individuals with special needs and their families by providing recreational, social, educational, and vocational programming. In addition to helping those in need, the Friendship Circle enriches its vast network of volunteers by enabling them to reap the rewards of selfless giving. Friendship Circle also provides support to individuals and families struggling with isolation, addiction, and other family-related crises.

ROLE SUMMARY:
Friendship Circle Summer Programs Volunteers will trained and paired 1:1 with a camper who they will spend the day with going from activity to activity. Volunteers will be given information such as likes and dislikes of their camper so they can start to build a friendship right away, ensuring that participants have the most fun and exciting summer possible! Volunteers will ideally commit by week, but exceptions can be made to only volunteer certain days. Lunch is provided daily for Day Camp and all meals are provided at Overnight Camp.

For volunteers 18+, there is also the opportunity to lead an elective such as art, sports, or another interest of yours. If you're interested in volunteering in this way, please email volunteer@friendshipcircle.org

ABOUT SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMMING:
Day Camp at Friendship Circle
Times: Mon - Fri, 10am-3pm
Session 1: June 20 - July 1
Session 2: July 5 - July 15*
*No camp on July 4
Session 3: July 18 - July 28**

Day Camp combines learning critical social skills with a fun and engaging camp experience. Friendship Circle is offering six weeks of summer fun on Friendship Circle’s Meer campus with exciting field trips out in the community. Campers will receive a memorable and active summer experience while developing friendships with teen volunteers and their peers.

Each day, campers will rotate through an engaging and unique schedule. Daily rotations include: arts and crafts, sports, water play in our NEW splash pad, music, dancing, singing and more! Campers will also have the opportunity to enjoy special guests and entertainment including magic shows, bounce houses, and other local entertainers. Several days a week, campers will also get the opportunity to participate in field trips across the metro-Detroit area. From hands-on museums to thrilling playscapes, campers will have unique experiences while fostering relationships within the community.

Rubin Family Summer Camp: Overnight Camp at North Star Reach
Week 1: August 1 - 5
Week 2: August 8 - 12

Friendship Circle provides an incredible overnight camp experience for individuals with special needs. Located at the beautiful natural environment of Camp North Star Reach in Pinckney, MI, campers will enjoy the great outdoors while receiving a safe and unforgettable overnight camp experience.

Our time will be filled with swimming, canoeing, nature walks, sports, talent shows and much more! Campers will have the opportunity to engage in nature themed arts and crafts, roast marshmallows over a campfire, and enjoy the experience of sleeping in a cabin with all of their friends.
