Job Opening: Communications Team Leader

Type: Volunteer position (10-15 hrs/week), Fully remote, flexible hours

Commitment: Minimum commitment of six months

Summary: The communications team leader is responsible for overseeing internal and external

communication of Nature First. Provide insight, direction and collaboration support to team

leaders including the board, writing and social media team, and partner and ambassador

leaders. Reports to Director of Operations

Primary Responsibilities

● Support Nature First’s 2022 goals

● Develop a strategic plan for internal and external communication

● Ensure all messages are effectively developed and communicated internally and

externally to support the mission and goals of Nature First.

● Identify process for content creation, approval system and distribution of all content

● Create timelines and ensure communication deliverables are adhered to

● Provide insight, direction, and support to leaders of the writing and social media teams

● Assist the Partnership Coordinator with branding for existing and new partners.

● Research opportunities for Nature First to publish articles in external sources such as

magazines, partner sites and blogs

● Partner with Board on opportunities to create and market workshop and conference

sponsorships to increase awareness of Nature First principles

● Ensure key stakeholders have relevant data and analytical information for their programs

Required Skills

● Excellent verbal, interpersonal and writing skills

● Prior communication, public relations, and reputation management experience

● Ability to demonstrate flexibility and creativity

● Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative with ability to drive consensus

● Prior non-profit experience preferred

● Global perspective and emphasis

● Passion for Nature First’s mission and principles

● Bilingual preferred

● Ability to work well with volunteers from diverse cultural backgrounds
