Join Us at the Barn this Winter & Spring!
The Super Troopers program provides equine therapeutic services to children and adults with special needs, with the assistance of PATH International certified instructors and dedicated volunteers. We have both an adaptive riding program as well as an equine care program for those students that do not want to ride but would still like to spend time with the horses.
Our volunteers choose their time and days to volunteer. We have two areas that the volunteers help out with. One is our Adaptive Riding Program where they will walk/jog alongside a mounted student during their class time. Class time is usually 30 - 60 min long. These classes will be held on Monday/Tuesday/Friday afternoons. Our other volunteer opportunity is with our Equine Care Program. This is where volunteers are paired with students to assist with unmounted class activities with our horses in the barn. Our Equine Care classes are 60 min long and held on Monday and Tuesday between 10-11, 11-12 or 1-2pm.
We will be entering our Spring Program March 11th and will be onboarding our new volunteers age 14yrs and at volunteer orientation on March 5th, 7th and 10th. No prior horse experience required.

Mission Statement
New Canaan Mounted Troop Inc. ("NCMT") mission is to build leadership, responsibility and confidence in youth through sound horsemanship and to enrich the lives of individuals with special needs through equine assisted activities.
Description
The Super Troopers programs provide equine therapeutic services to children and adults with special needs, with the assistance of PATH International certified instructors and dedicated volunteers. NCMT has an ADA compliant facility that successfully accommodates students with disabilities. Troopers aged 14 and older are encouraged to volunteer for Super Troopers. NCMT exclusively relies on donated horses and ponies to provide our services. Many of them stepped down from successful show careers or came to us through our alumni, donors, and friends. Troopers provides daily assistance to help care for them. This feature alone encourages collaboration between our students. Our barn is open all year, 7 days a week, except holidays. See Less
