Celebrating 23 years on World Lupus Day! Volunteers help with various tasks on the morning of Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Hoyt Park in Wauwatosa, WI. Tasks include set-up, clean-up, route monitors, water stations, hanging signs, setting up pop-up tents, handing out snacks, decoration station (art), taking photos, registration sign-in, etc.

Registration opens at 8:00 am and the walk begins at 10:00 am, followed by entertainment all finished by Noon. Clean-up finishing up by 1:00 PM.

Mission Statement

The Lupus Foundation of America, Wisconsin Chapter, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that strives to support individuals and families affected by lupus, increase awareness; and to support research efforts which improve diagnosis and treatment, and ultimately find the cause and cure of lupus.

Description

We provide educational materials, support group meetings statewide and information on our website for lupus patients and their families, plus medical professionals. We provide newsletters, take part in health fairs, sponsor an annual Lupus Medical Symposium to heighten awareness of lupus.

We have funded local research through the Medical College of Wisconsin and at UW-Madison. Research is also funded at the national level through our national office, the Lupus Foundation of America.

REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
  • Must be at least 16
  • Orientation or Training
  • Various shifts running all on walk day from 7:00 am thru 1:00 pm.
  • Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Fill out volunteer application by contacting the LFA, Wisconsin Chapter and phone interview.
