Parents and guardians can expect the highest quality learning and care for their children ages 16 months to 5 years with year-round enrollment at Wilder’s Child Development Center (CDC). Our staff and teachers continually recognize and strive to meet the diverse needs, abilities, interests, and cultures of children and families, where each person is valued and respected as a contributor in our classroom environment. You can join this dynamic team as a Preschool Tutor!

About 90 percent of a child’s brain development happens before the age of 5! This means it’s the perfect time to help kiddos learn their ABCs, 123s and so much more. Focusing on ages 3-5, the Preschool Tutor will join our preschool classrooms to help ignite a love of learning and ensure kids are ready for school. You will promote individualized learning experiences through play, song, instruction, activities, and conversation with the goal of preparing preschoolers to be ready for kindergarten.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who cares about young children’s social, emotional and cognitive development to help provide educational activities and support kids one-to-one and in small group settings. Kids at Wilder’s CDC need you to offer the extra time and attention they need to succeed. In partnership with Ampact, we will train you to make an incredible impact as a tutor!

Qualifications needed:

• Be 18 years or older.
• Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or follow exemption process.
• Ability to interact with and assist people of varying backgrounds, cultures and identities, including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, ability, gender, etc.
• Experience and/or passion for working with kids.
• Ability to speak a second language highly desired, but not required.
• Individuals from underserved communities and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Be self-directed and able to multitask
• Ability to work independently

• Patience while working with young children
• Highly respectful of confidentiality

Service Member Benefits:

• Bi-weekly living stipend provided through Ampact.
• Tutors who successfully complete their terms of service will receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for educational costs at eligible post-secondary institutions or to repay qualified student loans.
• Members serving full-time are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
• Members serving full-time may qualify to receive child-care assistance.
• Receive high-quality trainings. No experience? No problem! Your Early Learning Corps service will begin with training to teach you everything you need to know and support you every step of the way.
• Connect with local students and help them grow through personalized activities.
• Learn more about the inner workings of a preschool.
